Commentary

À partir des seuls monogrammes du droit et du revers, il est impossible d’attribuer cette monnaie à un atelier précis. Le monogramme du revers, avec les lettres MAS peut nous faire penser à une monnaie de Marseille ; ce type monétaire ne trouve toutefois pas de place dans le monnayage marseillais bien connu depuis l’étude du trésor de Nice-Cimiez.
Based on the monograms on the obverse and reverse alone, it is impossible to attribute this coin to a specific mint. The monogram on the reverse, with the letters MAS, may suggest a coin from Marseille; however, this type of coin does not find a place in the Marseille coinage, which has been well known since the study of the Nice-Cimiez treasure.
