Commentary
Médecin français, né à Paris, mort à Paris le 5 septembre 1682. Nommé professeur de botanique en 1647, trois fois doyen en 1658-1660, il a laissé la réputation d'une grande érudition; mais il était pédant, orgueilleux et chicaneur et intenta un procès aux écoles de la rue de la Bûcherie. Il combattait avec ardeur la secte chimique, mais faisait une guerre aveugle à l'antimoine. Outre les trois derniers volumes des Commentaires de Chartier sur Hippocrate, il a publié diverses thèses, entre autres Statuta Facultatis medicinae Parisiensis (Paris, 1660, in-12). (Dr L. Hn). FACULTÉ DE MÉDECINE DE PARIS
The Faculty of Medicine of Paris is one of the four components of the University of Paris, with the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts and Letters. In 1789, it consisted of one hundred and fifty-two doctors, seven of whom were appointed to teach materia medica, physiology, pathology, pharmacy, childbirth, French surgery and Latin surgery. It was headed by a dean, who was also responsible for forming the University tribunal with the deans of Theology and Law, and the four prosecutors of the Faculty of Arts..
