Commentary


Premier chirurgien d'Anne-Marie-Louise d'Orléans, Guillaume de l'Épine devint ensuite chirurgien à Paris. Il exercera le décanat en 1744-1746 et décède en 1783 en laissant à la Faculté sa bibliothèque et une partie de sa fortune pour créer un cours de chimie. Il reste connu comme un opposé à l'inoculation de la petite vérole défendue par Antoine Petit.
Winslow, danois d'origine fixé en France, fut un célèbre anatomiste puis professeur au Jardin du roi. Il est l’auteur d’une étude parue à Paris en 1740 (An mortis incantae signa minus incerta a chirurgicis quam ab allis signis, Paris, 1740) sur les morts apparentes. .
Guillaume de l'Épine, Anne-Marie-Louise d'Orléans's first surgeon, later became a surgeon in Paris. FACULTÉ DE MÉDECINE DE PARIS

The Faculty of Medicine of Paris is one of the four components of the University of Paris, with the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts and Letters. In 1789, it consisted of one hundred and fifty-two doctors, seven of whom were appointed to teach materia medica, physiology, pathology, pharmacy, childbirth, French surgery and Latin surgery.
