Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier. Joli buste mais métal très légèrement piqué. Superbe revers pour ce type ! Patine grise

Obverse description : Buste radié, drapé et cuirassé de Valérien Ier à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A).

Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Publius Licinius Valerianus Augustus”, (L’empereur césar Publius Licinius Valérien auguste).

Reverse

Reverse legend : VOTIS/ DECENNA/ LIBVS.

Reverse description : Dans une couronne de laurier.

Commentary

C’est l’un des revers les plus rares pour Valérien Ier. C’est la première fois que nous le proposons à la vente. Dans l’ouvrage récent de Bruno Bourdel, “Les antoniniens émis sous le règne conjoint des empereurs Valérien et Gallien”, ce type, n°29 y est très justement classé comme R4, avec moins de 10 exemplaires connus !.
