Coments on the condition:
Monnaie fourré, en mauvais métal, mais avec des types particulièrement bien venus au droit comme au revers. Patine brune avec de minimes traces de vert de gris

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Monogramme indéterminé ; au-dessus une croisette entre deux petits globules et au-dessous, un annelet entre deux petits globules, l’ensemble dans une couronne végétale.

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : E croiseté encadré par deux groupes de trois globules posés en triangle.

Commentary


Ce type de monnayage au E croiseté est désormais attribué au Poitou, région de Poitiers ou de Melles. Bien que fourré, ce denier est très intéressant avec un avers très original, sans équivalent connu.
Le monogramme pourrait correspondre à un évêque, mais aussi au nom d’un atelier. Si les lettres DNSE peuvent être proposées, les possibilités sont nombreuses. Seul le denier B. 3475 avec le monogramme ESB semble appartenir à la même sous-série que notre monnaie !.
