Commentary


Sequoyah (vers 1767 - 1843) est un orfèvre cherokee et l’inventeur de l’alphabet cherokee. A partir de 1806, il met en place un alphabet cherokee qui permet de transcrire les 86 syllabes de la langue cherokee. Cet alphabet est adopté par la Nation Cherokee en 1825.
