Commentary

Avec son argenture superficielle. Portrait de très haut relief. Cet exemplaire ne semble pas surfrappé sur un follis plus ancien comme c’est souvent le cas. Dernière année de frappe.
With its superficial silver plating. Very high relief portrait. This example does not appear to have been over-struck on an older follicle, as is often the case. Last year of minting

Historical background

TIBERIUS II CONSTANTINE

(09/26/578-08/14/582)

Justin lost his mind in 574 and General Tiberius ruled the empire from then on. He was associated with power and named august on September 26, 578 and succeeded Justin without problem on October 5, 578. The regnal years are counted since his accession as Caesar.
