Commentary


En 1868, Isabelle II abdique en faveur de son fils, Alphonse XII. Mais, les Cortes prononcent la déchéance de la maison de Bourbon. Le 19 octobre 1868, le ministre des finances du gouvernement provisoire signe le décret de création de la Peseta espagnole. En 20 ans, il s’agit du quatrième système monétaire, mais celui-ci restera en vigueur jusqu’en 2002.
In 1868, Isabella II abdicated in favor of her son, Alfonso XII. However, the Cortes declared the House of Bourbon deposed. On October 19, 1868, the Minister of Finance of the Provisional Government signed the decree creating the Spanish Peseta. This was the fourth monetary system in 20 years, but it remained in effect until 2002.
