Pour ce type G. Buceti a recensé douze exemplaires avec des poids compris entre 4,09 g et 6,68 g. Ce monnayage semble tardif puisque l’ethnique a disparu. Avec une tête de Janus, pouvons -nous identifier ce bronze avec un As ? Quant au revers, à la place de la mandibule d’animal, si nous regardons l’exemplaire à la verticale, nous pourrions avoir affaire à une trompette ce qui est plus en rapport avec un fer de lance.

SICILY - PANORMOS
(3rd - 1st century BC)
The city of Panorme was conquered by the Romans in 254 BC Besieged by Hadrusbal in 251 BC, Lucius Caecilius Metellus defeated the Carthaginians and seized their elephants. Hamilcar Barca did try to seize the city, but without success. At the end of the Second Punic War, Panorme became an important free city, an administrative and commercial capital. The city still played an important role under Sextus Pompey. In 20 BC, Augustus settled a Roman colony on his territory.
