Coments on the condition:
Flan très irrégulier, échancré à 2, 10 et 12 heures. Très beau portrait. Frappe molle de la légende de revers qui n’atténue pas la qualité de frappe de l’allégorie. Patine vert olive, marbrée de rouge sur la nuque de l’empereur

SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS

Septimius Severus was born in 146 in Leptis Magna in Africa (Libya). After a brilliant military career under the reigns of Marc Aurèle and Commodus, he was consul suffect in 185. At the time of Pertinax's death, he was governor of Upper Pannonia.
