Commentary
La médaille a été décernée à Joseph-Gabriel Laumondais (1799-1882) représentant du peuple à l'Assemblée constituante de 1848, d’où cette médaille. Avocat de paix et juge de paix à Mortain, il est conseiller général depuis 1842, puis représentant de la Manche en 1848 à l’assemblée constituante. Il vota pour le bannissement de la famille d’Orléans, pour les poursuites contre Louis Blanc, contre les poursuites contre Caussidière, contre l’abolition de la peine de mort, contre l’impôt progressif, pour l’incompatibilité des fonctions, contre l’amendement Grevy, contre la sanction de la Constitution par le peuple, pour l’ensemble de la Constitution, contre la proposition Rateau, contre l’interdiction des clubs.
