Armand Auguste Caqué est né à Saintes en 1793 et meurt à Paris en 1881. Élève de Raymond Gayrard, il travaille d’abord à la Monnaie de La Haye et devient sous Napoléon III graveur au Cabinet impérial. Il est essentiellement connu pour sa Galerie numismatique des rois de France de Pharamond à Charles X.
