Obverse translation : “Salonina Augusta”, (Salonine augusta).

Reverse legend : VENVS GENETRIX/ -|VI.
Reverse description : Vénus debout de face tournée à gauche, tenant une pomme (?) de la main droite et un sceptre long de la main gauche ; à ses pieds, Cupidon debout à gauche tourné à droite.
Reverse translation : “Venus Genetrix”, (Vénus génitrice).

Salonine, the wife of Gallien, seems to receive the title of augusta in 253, when her husband is associated with power by Valerian I. She loses at least two of her children, young Valérien and Salonin. She is murdered at the same time as her husband. Salonina is said to have had Christian sympathies.
