Obverse description : Buste diadémé et drapé de Salonine à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant posé sur un croissant (L15).

Obverse translation : “Salonina Augusta”, (Salonine augusta).

Reverse

Reverse legend : PIETAS - AVG.

Reverse description : Pietas (la Piété) ou Salonine voilée et drapée debout à gauche, tenant une boîte à encens (acerra) de la main droite et sacrifiant de la main gauche tendue.

Reverse translation : “Pietas Augustæ”, (La Piété de l’augusta).

Salonine, the wife of Gallien, seems to receive the title of augusta in 253, when her husband is associated with power by Valerian I. She loses at least two of her children, young Valérien and Salonin. She is murdered at the same time as her husband. Salonina is said to have had Christian sympathies.
