Commentary

Le véritable nom de cet atelier est Izhorsky Zavod (du nom de la rivière voisine l’Izhora). Située à Kolpino à 26 km de Saint Petersbourg, cette manufacture fut créée en 1722 par le tsar Pierre Ier. Fonderie du tsar rattachée à l’amirauté, Izhorsky Zavod est toujours en activité et fait désormais partie du groupe métallurgique et d’équipement industriel OMZ.
The real name of this workshop is Izhorsky Zavod (from the name of the nearby Izhora River). Located in Kolpino, 26 km from Saint Petersburg, this factory was founded in 1722 by Tsar Peter I. The Tsar's foundry attached to the Admiralty, Izhorsky Zavod is still in operation and is now part of the OMZ metallurgical and industrial equipment group.
