Commentary

Poids léger. Cet as pose un problème de datation. Dans la vente Vecchi, il était placé dans la série anonyme datée entre 157 et 155 avant J.-C., frappée sur un étalon oncial (27,06 g). Notre exemplaire avec un poids de 33,67 g semblait trop lourd pour cette réduction. Le poids moyen de la série sextantaire est d’environ 40 grammes et la moitié pour la série onciale frappée cinquante plus tard. Notre exemplaire doit avoir été frappé sur un étalon sextantaire (54,12 g) avec un poids léger.
Light weight. This ace poses a dating problem. In the Vecchi sale, it was placed in the anonymous series dated between 157 and 155 BC, struck on an uncial standard (27.06 g). Our example with a weight of 33.67 g seemed too heavy for this reduction. The average weight of the sextantary series is about 40 grams and half that for the uncial series struck fifty years later.
