Commentary
La médaille a été décernée à Louis Fournier-Delabarre (écrit également : Louis Fournier de la Barre) (1921-1969). Résistant français, compagnon de la Libération, il fut engagé dans les forces françaises libres dès 1940 puis il participa aux combats en Afrique et au Proche-Orient. Démobilisé en janvier 1946, Louis Fournier de la Barre devient ouvrier métallurgiste et exerce parallèlement la fonction de conseiller municipal de Paris de 1947 à 1953. Il se réengagera en 1953 et participera à la guerre d’Indochine.
The medal was awarded to Louis Fournier-Delabarre (also spelled Louis Fournier de la Barre) (1921-1969). A French Resistance fighter and Companion of the Liberation, he joined the Free French Forces in 1940 and fought in Africa and the Middle East. Demobilized in January 1946, Louis Fournier de la Barre became a metalworker and simultaneously served as a Paris city councilor from 1947 to 1953. He reenlisted in 1953 and fought in the Indochina War.
