Obverse description : Le roi assis de face sur une chaise curule ornée de têtes de lions, couronné, tenant un sceptre fleurdelisé de la main droite et un globe crucigère de la main gauche.
Obverse translation : (Robert, par la grâce de Dieu, roi de Sicile et de Jérusalem).


Reverse description : Croix aux extrémités feuillues, cantonnée de quatre lis.
Reverse translation : (comte de Provence et de Forcalquier).

Historical background



Robert (1277-1343), the son of Charles II and Mary of Hungary and the brother of Charles Martel and Philip of Taranto. He married in first wedding Yolande of Aragon and his second wife Sancha of Majorca. Robert of Anjou was also king of Naples and the grandfather of Joan of Naples, who succeeded him. Robert takes title King of Jerusalem and Sicily law and Count of Provence at the back.
