Très bel exemplaire sur un flan bien centré au droit, légèrement décentré au revers mais parfaitement lisible. Superbe buste de Postume ainsi qu’un joli revers. Patine grise avec des reflets bleutés au droit

Reverse legend : IOVI - S-TATORI.
Reverse description : Jupiter nu, debout de face, la tête tournée à droite, tenant un foudre de la main gauche et un sceptre long de la main droite.
Reverse translation : “Iovi Statori”, (À Jupiter qui arrête les fuyards).

Postume seizes the purple by eliminating Salonin, son of Gallien, of whom he had custody. He reigns over Gaul, Brittany and Spain. Did Postume toy with the idea of conquering the Roman Empire? Gallien, twice, will try to reconquer the "pars occidentalis" of the Empire, without success. Postume will remain in power for nine years, before perishing assassinated for having refused the sack of Mainz, a city which supported Lélien.
