Sebastian is the son of John III (1521-1557) and the grand-son of Charles V by his mother, Jeanne. He was born January 20, 1554. On the death of his father, he was under the regency of Catherine and Henry Cardinal. Personal government Sebastian began Jan. 20, 1568. Cevaleresque king, he decided to bring the war in North Africa, but was killed during the Battle of Alcaber-Kibir, August 4, 1578, leaving no direct heir. It was his uncle, Henry, who succeeded him.
