PORTUGAL - KINGDOM OF PORTUGAL - JOHN VI THE CLEMENT

(1792-1816-1826)

Jean VI (05/13/1767-03/10/1826) is the son of Pierre III (1717-1786) and Marie I (1734-1816). Regent when his mother went mad in 1792, John VI had to flee in 1807 when Junot's troops invaded Portugal and occupied Lisbon. The prince finds refuge in Brazil with the entire royal family. John VI does not return to Portugal until 1821. Brazil obtains independence in 1822. John dies in 1826.
