Commentary

Dimensions de la boîte : 55,5*31,5 mm.
L’intérieur est doré et présente un losange entre les deux emplacements guillochés.
L’exemplaire n’est pas signé mais le style de l’objet nous laisse à penser que ce porte louis fait partie de la série végétale élaborée par Jean-Baptiste Émile Dropsy.
Jean-Baptiste Émile Dropsy (1848-1923) est un graveur. Il entama son apprentissage de graveur sur métaux à Paris quai de Jemmapes auprès de la société Lemoine. Ce porte-louis décoré et gravé par Jean Baptiste Émile Dropsy permettait de ranger facilement plusieurs napoléons de 10 francs OR et de 20 francs OR à l’aide d’un système à ressorts.
Box dimensions: 55.5*31.5 mm. The interior is gilded and features a diamond between the two guilloché locations. The copy is not signed but the style of the object suggests that this Louis holder is part of the plant series developed by Jean-Baptiste Émile Dropsy. Jean-Baptiste Émile Dropsy (1848-1923) was an engraver. He began his apprenticeship as a metal engraver in Paris on the Quai de Jemmapes with the Lemoine company. This Louis holder, decorated and engraved by Jean Baptiste Émile Dropsy, made it easy to store several 10-franc gold and 20-franc gold napoleons using a spring system.
