Dimensions de la croix sans bélière ni ruban : 39,5 mm
Ruban rayé rouge et blanc.

L'insigne d'honneur pour le mérite de la guerre de 1914/15 a été offert par le duc Bernhard le 7 mars 1915 « pour les services spéciaux rendus par des individus pendant la guerre ». Elle a été décernée aux officiers et fonctionnaires assimilés et aux civils en tant que « Croix d'honneur », ainsi qu'aux grades d'officiers enrôlés et de sous-officiers.
