Exemplaire sur un petit flan épais, légèrement décentré des deux côtés. Jolie tête de Zeus. Le revers est bien lisible. Patine marron foncé

PONTUS - PHARNACIA

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The city was founded by Pharnaces I (185-149 AC.), king of Pontus, grandfather of Mithridates VI Eupator, around 180 BC on the site of ancient Cerasus. It was a fortified coastal town. It loses its importance at the time of the Roman conquest.
