Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Obverse description : Tête à droite avec chevelure à longues et minces mèches en S, flammées, oreille bien nette, bouche à deux traits et cou assez court.

Reverse

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Reverse description : Croix formée de quatre cantons ; besant dans un cercle aux 1er (et 4e) cantons, hache triangulaire évidée et verticale au 3e cantons et horizontale au 2e canton.

Commentary

Sur les 37 exemplaires, six exemplaires proviennent du trésor de Dunes et quinze sont conservés à la BN. Les autres provenances sont Perpignan et Saint-Etienne-de-la-Lande (Dordogne). La position des haches des 2e et 3e cantons se déterminent par leur extrémité supérieure bouletée que l'on distingue en bord de coin.
Of the 37 examples, six come from the Dunes treasure and fifteen are preserved at the National Library. The other provenances are Perpignan and Saint-Etienne-de-la-Lande (Dordogne). The position of the axes of the 2nd and 3rd cantons is determined by their balled upper end which can be seen at the edge of the die.
