Commentary


Le type à la croix crossée est traditionnellement attribué à Paris, notamment pour certaines monnaies du Palais, mais présentant un buste au droit. L’attribution à Paris de cette monnaie reste toutefois incertaine. Rare variété avec un A sous la croix crossées.

(7th-8th centuries)

The Merovingian coins of Paris are broken down into royal, palatine, palatine school, fiscal, monetary and denarius gold coins. The denarii are of several types; Bishopric (in the name of Agilbertus, Sigofredus, Turnoaldus, Adulfus, Berneharius, Hugo, Merfridus, Fedolius, Ratbertus, Ragnecapdus or Madalbertus), the School, the Palace and of the Paris region. The reverses are mostly adorned with a swastika or an anchored cross.
