Ce type monétaire avec un globule et un pentalpha est traditionnellement attribué à la Touraine et au Poitou ; il est connu pour les ateliers de Châteaudun, Chinon, Saint-Martin de Tours et Poitiers (Belfort n° 3633). Des monnaies au même type étaient présentent dans le trésor de Savonnières (Indre-et-Loire) (cf. Lafaurie (Jean), Trésor de deniers mérovingiens trouvé à Savonnières (Indre-et-Loire), RN 1963, p. 65-81 et pl. VIII, particulièrement n° 37-45, p. 81. Nous pensons que l’attribution d’un denier à Poitiers est douteuse et nous préférons voir dans ce type monétaire une production propre à la Touraine.
This monetary type with a globule and a pentalpha is traditionally attributed to Touraine and Poitou; it is known for the workshops of Châteaudun, Chinon, Saint-Martin de Tours and Poitiers (Belfort n° 3633). Coins of the same type were present in the treasure of Savonnières (Indre-et-Loire) (cf. Lafaurie (Jean), Trésor de deniers mérovingiens trouvé à Savonnières (Indre-et-Loire), RN 1963, p. 65-81 and pl. VIII, particularly n° 37-45, p. 81. We believe that the attribution of a denier to Poitiers is doubtful and we prefer to see in this monetary type a production specific to Touraine
