Cette frappe commémore le jubilée d’argent de la reine Elisabeth II.
En 1814, le traité de Paris cède à l’Angleterre l’Isle de France qui est rebaptisée île Maurice. En 1968, cette colonie devient un commonwealth. Maurice devient officiellement une république le 1er mars 1962..
