Exemplaire sur un irrégulier bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait de Maurice Tibère. Joli revers de style fin. Belle patine vert olive

Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Mauricius Tiberius Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Maurice Tibère perpétuel auguste).

MAURICIUS TIBERIUS

Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
