Commentary
Type frappé au début du règne. Semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. L’an 5 ne semble pas connu.

MAURICIUS TIBERIUS

Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
