Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage sur un flan ovale bien centré au droit avec les grènetis visibles Portrait bien venu à la frappe mis en valeur par la patine. Joli revers de haut relief où tous les détails du temple sont visibles, légèrement décentré sur la droite. Jolie patine de médaillier avec des reflets mordorés. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Juba I succeeded his father Hiempsal II in 60 BC Known for his arrogance and cruelty, he was noticed by Cicero and quickly became the enemy of Caesar. In the civil war between Pompey to Caesar, he resolved first. Beaten Thapsus in 46 BC, he fled and was killed or committed suicide. His kingdom was conquered and again became independent more than twenty years later with his son Juba II.
