MAURETANIA - MAURETANIAN KINGDOM - JUBA I

In the civil war between Pompey and Caesar, he sided with the former. Beaten at Thapsus in 46 BC, he fled, then was killed or committed suicide. His kingdom was conquered and did not become independent again until more than twenty years later with his son, Juba II.
