Obverse description : Bustes accolés à droite de Childebert et d’Ultrogothe, signature au-dessous DANTZELL.

Reverse legend : CONSEIL GENERAL D'ADMINISTRATION DES HOPITAUX CIVILS DE LYON.

Reverse description : Écu échancré aux armes des hôpitaux de Lyon parti des armes de la ville, d'une Pieta et d'une mère de famille, couronné et entouré de deux bandeaux inscrits 542 et 1534.

Commentary

Tranche striée. Childebert Ier (495-558) est le troisième fils de Clovis. Il reçut le royaume de Paris et participa à l’assassinat de ses neveux dont il partagea l’héritage avec ses frères Clotaire Ier et Théodoric Ier. Il démembra ensuite le royaume de Bourgogne. Il meurt sans héritier en 558, laissant Clotaire Ier seul roi des Francs.
