Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle sur un petit flan bien centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait de Lucius Vérus. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine grise superficielle avec des reflets dorés. Conserve l’intégralité de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine au droit

Obverse description : Buste cuirassé tête nue de Lucius Vérus à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (B°4).
Obverse translation : “Lucius Verus Augustus Armeniacus”, (Lucius Vérus auguste vainqueur des Arméniens).

Reverse legend : TR P IIII - IMP II COS II.
Reverse description : Victoria (la Victoire) volant à gauche, les ailes ouvertes, tenant une couronne de la main droite tendue et une palme de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : Tribunicia Potestate quartum Imperator iterum Consul iterum”, (Revêtu de la quatrième puissance tribunitienne et de la deuxième acclamation impériale, consul pour la deuxième fois).

LUCIUS VERUS

Son of Aelius, Lucius Verus, born in 130, was adopted at the same time as Marcus Aurelius by Antoninus at the express request of the dying Hadrian. During the reign of his adoptive father, he remained in the shadows and did not even receive the title of Caesar. After Antoninus' death, his half-brother immediately shared power with him, except for the titles of "Pontifex Maximus" (Grand Pontiff) and "Pater Patriæ" (Father of the Fatherland). Lucius Verus led a brilliant campaign in Armenia between 163 and 165, then against the Parthians. He married Lucille in 164 and died in February 169Lucius Aurelius Verus.
