Historical background

LUCILLE

(182) Annia Lucilla

Augusta (161-169)

Lucille was born in 149, was married by her father Lucius Verus in 164. She may have received the title of Augusta from 161. After the death of her husband in 169, she married Pompeianus, an old senator, friend of Marcus Aurelius. When Commodus succeeded his father, he honored his sister, but Lucille plotted against him. She was exiled to Capri, and performed 182.
