Commentary
This double sol, dated 1791, was struck in 1792. It actually has AN 4 on the reverse and not AN 3. The squares were to be destroyed every quarter and those of Pau of 1791 had been destroyed on February 17, 1792, however on May 8, 1792, the coin Commission asked the Pau Mint \\\"why, if it complied with this last February, two-sol coins were struck with a die of one thousand seven hundred and ninety-one for the head and one of 1792 for the reverse, as seems to result from a coin sent to the commission\\\" (CAÉF, MP Ms Fol. 161, f° 50 v°). Coin published in the Bulletin Numismatique n° 216
