Obverse description : Tête ceinte d’un bandeau à gauche, la chevelure indiquée par trois mèches, le cou par trois petits traits.

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Sanglier enseigne à gauche, la queue recourbée ; hampe en forme de V aux extremités bouletées et un globule plus gros au centre, un globule sur la tête du sanglier.

Commentary


Le symbole du revers est formé d'un V aux extrémités bouletées avec un globule plus gros au centre. Le sanglier est orné d'un globule sur la tête, sur le dos au-dessus de la queue et sur le haut de la patte arrière.
The reverse symbol is formed of a V with pelleted ends with a larger globule in the center. The wild boar is decorated with a globule on the head, on the back above the tail and on the top of the hind leg

The Leuques are mentioned only once in the Gallic Wars. Their neighbors were the Médiomatriques, the Lingons and the Séquanes. The Leuques as well as the Séquanes and the Lingones provided Caesar with wheat when the Roman army stopped at Vesontio (Besançon) to refuel before facing the Germans of Ariovistus (58 BC).
