Ce thaler est frappé sur un flan large et légèrement décentré au droit. Reliefs plus nets au revers qu’au droit. Petite rayure dans le champ devant l’épaule gauche de l’archiduc

Obverse description : Buste de Ferdinand d'Autriche à droite couronné, cuirassé avec l'armure damasquinée, tenant un sceptre fleurdelisé de la main droite et le pommeau de l'épée de la main gauche ; la couronne coupe la légende en haut.
Obverse translation : (Ferdinand, par la grâce de Dieu, archiduc d'Autriche).

Reverse legend : DVX. BV - RG: LAN - ALSA COM - PHIRT.
Reverse description : Écu écartelé au 1 de Hongrie, au 2 de Bohême, au 3, contre-écartelé en 1 et 4 de Castille, en 2 et 3 de Léon, au 4, contre-écartelé en 1 et 4 d'Autriche, en 2 et 3 de Bourgogne ; sur le tout un écu de Haute-Alsace ; écu entouré du collier de l'Ordre de la Toison d'or dont le mouton coupe la légende en bas. À dextre, un écu de Habsbourg coupant la légende, à senestre un écu de Ferrette coupant également la légende.

(07/25/1564-1595)

Archduke Ferdinand was born in 1529. He is the second son of Emperor Ferdinand I and Anne, heiress of Bohemia and Hungary, who died in 1547; he is also the grandson of Philippe le Beau. He succeeded his father, who died in Vienna on July 25, 1564, in the Tyrol and in the "Vorlande" while his brother, Maximilian II, was crowned emperor and king of Bohemia and Hungary. Archduke Ferdinand died in 1595.
