Ce type porte l’inscription en Brahmi, Shaka qui n’est certainement pas le nom d’un souverain bien que de nombreux auteurs dont M. Mitchiner pensent que se soit le cas.

The Koushan Empire emerged from the ruins of the kingdom of Bactria and that of Indo-Koush. We know gold coins for Vima Kadphises (108-142), contemporary of Trajan and Hadrian. The empire knew its apogee under Vasou Deva Ier (185-228) then disappeared in the second half of IVe century, replaced by the Goupta empire, founded by Chandragoupta Ier (320-335).
