Commentary


L'ordre de Saint-Louis est un ordre royal et militaire institué par Louis XIV en 1693. Il était destiné à récompenser les services rendus à l'armée. La décoration consiste en une croix à huit pointes, cantonnée de fleurs de lis d’or. La croix portait d’un côté un Saint Louis tenant une couronne de laurier et de l’autre une couronne d’épines avec la devise Ludovicus Magnus instituit. Les grades sont les grand'croix, portant cette croix avec un large ruban couleur de feu, en écharpe ; les commandeurs au nombre de 24 et les chevaliers dont le nombre est illimité. Variante au niveau du positionnement de la signature sous le buste.
