Exemplaire sur un flan extrêmement large avec les grènetis complets. Beau portrait à l’usure régulière avec le coin légèrement bouché. Joli revers de style fin. Patine noire, légèrement granuleuse

Obverse description : Buste casqué, diadémé et cuirassé de Justinien Ier de face avec pendilia, tenant de la main droite un globe crucigère et de la gauche un bouclier ; dans le champ à droite, une croix.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Iusitinianus Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Justinien perpétuel auguste).

Le bouclier est orné d’un cavalier galopant à droite. Au revers, le Z de la marque d’atelier est rétrograde.

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora. The construction of Hagia Sophia was completed under his reign, which marks the height of the Byzantine conquests.
