Exemplaire sur un flan large, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis lisibles. Usure importante, parfaitement lisible et identifiable. Patine noire

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé de Justinien Ier à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A'a) ; diadème perlé.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Iustinianus Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Justinien perpétuel auguste).

Reverse description : M accostée d’une étoile à six rais et d’une croix grecque, surmontée d’une croisette.
Commentary
Poids léger. Au revers étoile en forme de sceau de Salomon. Semble surfrappé par endroit. Épaulière ornée d’un chrisme.

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora. The construction of Hagia Sophia was completed under his reign, which marks the height of the Byzantine conquests. Carthage as well as Africa and part of Numidia were reconquered from the Vandals thanks to General Bélisaire. After a century of Vandal domination, Romanism once again reigned over the Mediterranean.
