Commentary


Ce type est fabriqué suite au décret du 9 février 1850. Ces pièces furent démonétisées par l'arrêt du 21 décembre 1927. Seulement un peu plus de 20.000 pièces furent frappées entre 1850 et 1860 pour Gênes (600 pièces) et Turin ce qui explique la rareté de ce type.
This type was produced following the decree of February 9, 1850. These coins were demonetized by the decree of December 21, 1927. Only a little more than 20,000 coins were minted between 1850 and 1860 for Genoa (600 coins) and Turin, which explains the rarity of this type.

ITALY - KINGDOM OF SARDINIA - VICTOR-EMMANUEL II

(24/03/1849-17/03/1861)

Victor-Emmanuel II (14/03/1820-9/01/1878), son of Charles-Albert and Thérèse of Tuscany, succeeded his father who abdicated in 1849. In twelve years, with the help of Cavour and the alliance of France, he will reconstitute the kingdom of Italy for his benefit in 1861 but he does not take Rome until 1870.
