Commentary

Louis-Basile de Bernage fut chargé successivement des intendances de Montauban, puis de Montpellier et Toulouse. En 1734, il fut appelé au conseil d'Etat. Par provisions du 3 décembre 1724, il avait été nommé secrétaire-greffier de l'ordre de Saint Louis, charge qu'il quitta en 1733. Les secrétaires-greffiers avaient le privilège de porter les insignes de grand'croix .
Louis-Basile de Bernage was successively responsible for the intendances of Montauban, then Montpellier and Toulouse. In 1734, he was called to the Council of State. By provisions of December 3, 1724, he had been appointed secretary-clerk of the Order of Saint Louis, a position he left in 1733. The secretaries-clerks had the privilege of wearing the insignia of the Grand Cross
