Commentary
Médaille attribuée en 1889 à Léon Gillot, député de Saône-et-Loire à l’occasion de la Ve législature. Il naquit le 29 mai 1851 à Paris et mourut le 20 novembre 1907 à Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines). De 1873 à 1877 il fut employé des télégraphes de Cochinchine puis se fixa comme agriculteur à Sevrey. En 1881 il est élu conseiller municipal de Sevrey avant d’en devenir maire l’année suivante. Il fut conseiller général de Chalon-sud à partir de 1883 jusqu’à sa mort et fut élu député dès le premier tour lors des élections de 1889 avant d’être réélu dans cette fonction en 1893 et en 1898. Le 28 janvier 1900 il est élu sénateur.
