Commentary

On this example the lily on the reverse looks more like a woman! Class II is the most stylized; the head is bandaged and the hair is marked by locks. The bull is less recognizable, surrounded by two globules distributed in the field around the lily

Historical background

HIGH AND MIDDLE SEINE

(2nd - 1st century BC)

Under this term are brought together two large distinct but homogeneous groups, and an isolated potin. A few years ago, all of these coins would have been attributed to the Leuques without a shadow of hesitation. It is the systematic reclassification of emissions that now makes it possible to provide a different hypothesis.
