Exemplaire sur un flan parfaitement centré des deux côtés, légèrement bombé. Très beau portrait. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste radié et drapé d'Hérennius Étruscus César à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A21).
Obverse translation : “Quintus Herennius Etruscus Messius Decius Nobilissimus Cæsar”, (Quintus Hérennius Étruscus Messius Dèce très noble césar).

Reverse legend : PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS.
Reverse description : Hérennius Étruscus debout à gauche tenant une baguette de la main droite et une haste transversale de la gauche.
Reverse translation : “Principi Iuventutis”, (Au Prince de la jeunesse).

Commentary


Sur certains exemplaires la haste transversale du revers est remplacée par un sceptre.

Hérennius receives the title of Caesar in the course of the year 250 and becomes august at the time of his departure from Rome, in April or May 251, to go and fight the Goths with his father. He will find death there.
