Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire sur un flan large et régulier, bien centré avec les grènetis complets. Très beau portrait. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Recouvert d’une fine patine grise avec des reflets dorés. Conserve au droit son brillant de frappe et une partie de son coupant d’origine

Reverse description : Jupiter nu debout de face, regardant à droite, tenant un foudre de la main gauche et un long sceptre de la droite.
Reverse translation : “Iovi Statori”, (À Jupiter qui arrête les fuyards).
Commentary
Poids très léger. Rubans de type 3. Ptéryges invisibles sous le paludamentum.

Augustus
Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations. Emperor at 13, married at 16, killed at 19, this is how the life of this young man could be summed up, victim of the appetites of Philippe the Arab, new prefect of the praetorium.
