Commentary

Dimension sans la bélière : 54 mm. Faisons remarquer que l’objet est remarquablement travaillé. L’avers est une plaque présentant au revers le négatif du buste du maréchal. Le revers présente un opercule vitré pouvant se retirer et bloquant la fine plaquette gravée. Les deux plaques sont assemblées.
Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, prince de Wahlstatt, est un général et feld-maréchal prussien qui commanda l'armée prussienne contre Napoléon Ier en 1815. Il remporta la bataille de Katzbach en 1813 contre Macdonald et Sébastiani. Il était général en chef de l'armée de Silésie. C’est la bataille de Leipzig qui lui valut le titre de feld-maréchal. Il rentra en France en 1814, perdit contre Napoléon Ier à Brienne mais remporta les batailles de La Rothière et de Laon. Cela lui valut son titre de prince.
Dimensions without the bail: 54 mm. Note that the object is remarkably crafted. The obverse is a plate presenting on the reverse the negative of the marshal's bust. The reverse has a glass cover that can be removed and blocks the thin engraved plate. The two plates are assembled. Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, Prince of Wahlstatt, is a Prussian general and field marshal who commanded the Prussian army against Napoleon I in 1815. He won the Battle of Katzbach in 1813 against Macdonald and Sebastiani. He was general-in-chief of the Army of Silesia. It was the Battle of Leipzig that earned him the title of field marshal. He returned to France in 1814, lost to Napoleon I at Brienne but won the battles of La Rothière and Laon. This earned him his title of prince
