Joli quart de statère frappé sur un flan bien centré des deux côtés. L’usure est fine et régulière, présence de quelques fines rayures. Monnaie agréable malgré une frappe un peu brouillon. Patine de collection

Commentary

Ce quart semble manquer à tous les ouvrages consultés. La monnaie est en bon or et de poids lourd, suggérant une datation précoce au IIIe siècle avant J.C. La frappe est brouillon et ne permet pas une attribution certaine ; la chevelure au droit, avec cette mèche retombant devant le front, n’est pas sans rappeler certaines monnaies du Groupe de Normandie (DT 2033), mais aussi des monnaies plus tardives attribuées au Riedones (DT 2092) sur lesquelles figurent une arcade sourcilière marquée et un nez droit.

The coinage is good gold and heavy weight, suggesting an early dating to the 3rd century BC The minting is messy and does not allow a certain attribution; the hair on the right, with this lock falling in front of the forehead, is reminiscent of certain coins of the Normandy Group (DT 2033), but also of later coins attributed to the Riedones (DT 2092) on which appear a marked eyebrow arch and a straight nose
